We’re all about to be swept up in the wave of The Last of Us on HBO as the ground-breaking series continues to adapt the ground-breaking video game franchise from Naughty Dog Entertainment. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay return as Joel and Ellie, alongside a village of returning and newly-introduced characters in the world of apocalyptic fungus zombies.
And returning from the game itself is Jeffrey Wright who voiced and provided motion capture performance for the character Isaac, reprising that same role in the upcoming season. That follows in the footsteps of Merle Dandridge who played the role of Marlene in both the first game in the franchise and the first season of the show – then the only actor to make the leap from the game to the show in the same boots.
As for the latest trailer, excitement is high. It looks incredible and moving and at times scary as hell. And long-time fans will absolutely recognize some locations and key moments from the games, like the museum ruins or the mall flashback. But that’s all I will point out. Remember: don’t be spoiling anything for those who haven’t played the games or don’t know the beats. This is one of those stories that is a gift to experience for the first time – and it’s out starting April 13th.
