How did we miss this announcement in February? For whatever reason, news of a prototype flying shopping cart is making the rounds this week. Thanks to R&D by a team at the Seoul National University in Korea we have a proof of concept for what is essentially a platform or basket and some drones, which together make something very futuristic. I can hear the Jetsons theme song now.

I do have some concern over the hypothetical situation where all of the glass bottles in your cart smash because one of the drones kicked it mid-flight. They do try to make a justification for a flying cart over a rolling one by showing what a cart being thrown down some stairs looks like. As if we already didn’t know..
