A Missouri museum decided to lace things up a bit by teaming up with its upstairs neighbor to break a world record with a shoelace measuring a whopping 2,729 feet—more than half a mile long! The City Museum, already famous for setting the record for the largest gathering of people with underwear on their heads (until America’s Got Talent swiped that title), decided to go for something even “knot”-tier.
Joining forces with The Shoelace Factory, which crafts artisanal shoelaces using antique machinery, they spent 24 hours weaving this behemoth lace. They even fitted it with custom-made aglets (you know, those little plastic bits on the ends of shoelaces).
The epic shoelace was stretched out across the historic Eads Bridge for an official measurement. To tie up all the loose ends, the museum team had to prove the shoelace was not only made from woven threads but also functional enough to tie a shoe. Talk about a “shoe-per” achievement!
