10% of Led Zeppelin’s Legendary Catalogue Will Be Sold!

LedZepNews confirmed a deal has been signed for Helen Grant’s 10% share of Led Zeppelin’s royalties, despite one potential buyer declining interest. Her lawyer, Ian Penman, confirmed the shares are under a binding offer, with an announcement to follow.

In September, an £8.5 million ($15,107,432.50 CAD) offer was reported, but Penman didn’t confirm the final deal’s value. Corporate records show the deal isn’t finalized, and ownership hasn’t changed yet. This could mean an outsider might own part of the royalties, possibly prompting the band to release more material.

There is speculation that Jimmy Page might be increasing his stake again. Page originally owned 50% of Superhype Tapes and increased his share to 80% between 2002 and 2003 by buying 30% from Grant’s children.

The £8.5 million ($15,107,432.50 CAD) offer values Led Zeppelin’s royalties at £85 million ($151,095,406.62 CAD), lower than other high-profile music catalogue sales. This lower valuation is likely because Grant’s share lacks music publishing rights and control over releases, making it less appealing to investors seeking majority stakes.
